Porterville Unified School District is deeply saddened to report the passing of former Sequoia Middle School Principal Joe Santos after a courageous battle with cancer on September 1. Dr. Santos was a long-time administrator in the District with principalships at Monte Vista and Westfield Elementary. In 2006, he became the founding principal of Sequoia Middle School, where he served for over ten years, leading the campus to become one of the highest performing middle schools in Tulare County and the honor of being selected as one of NASA's Explorer Schools.
We would like to extend our condolences to the Santos family and express our gratitude for the positive impact he had on so many of our students' lives.
