Every year, the Porterville Unified School District establishes available student spaces at its middle and high schools so that families may choose to place their student(s) in their school of choice without negatively impacting families who reside within specific attendance areas. In this regard, the following guidelines for high school and middle school placement were approved by the Porterville Unified School District Governing Board of Trustees at their meeting of February 22, 2024.
- High school and middle school placement are based upon the legal residence of the parent(s). To find which school serves your address, visit the District’s website at portervilleschools.org and click on the school locator link.
- All new interdistrict transfers approved for students shall be placed at school of choice if there is space available after intra-district placements are completed. Inter-district transfers include those students whose legal residence is outside of the Porterville Unified School District (PUSD) boundaries, i.e., Delano, Exeter, Farmersville, Lindsay residents desiring to attend high school in Porterville. If requested school does not have space available, all schools with available space shall be offered.
- There are 105 vacancies available for intra-district attendance transfers to Granite Hills High School.
- There are 40 vacancies available for intra-district attendance transfers to Monache High School.
- There are 100 vacancies available for intra-district attendance transfers to Porterville High School.
- There are 100 vacancies available for intra-district attendance transfers to Strathmore High School.
- There are 100 vacancies available for intra-district attendance transfers to Bartlett Middle School.
- There are 75 vacancies available for intra-district attendance transfers to Pioneer Middle School.
- There are 60 vacancies available for intra-district attendance transfers to Sequoia Middle School.
- Intra-district attendance transfers include those students whose legal residence is in the Porterville Unified School District boundaries and wish to attend a different school within PUSD. All requests for intra-district attendance transfers for the 2024-2025 school year must be submitted electronically by 5:00 p.m. on May 1, 2024. If the number of requests exceeds the number of vacancies, there will be a lottery drawing to determine those students approved for intra-district attendance transfer.
The Governing Board of Trustees for the Porterville Unified School District is committed to allowing families to place students in the school of their choice, and the District will take all reasonable steps necessary to accommodate such requests provided space is available.
