Good evening PUSD parents,
I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and well. This summer was a season of continued change with each day seeming to bring new information that often required a return to the drawing board in our attempts to draft reopening plans. I am sure I am not alone in being both relieved and apprehensive that with next week comes the start of the new school year, ready or not.
I'm pleased to report that thanks to the efforts of so many, PUSD will be ready. Included in this message are links to English and Spanish guides for reopening with an overview of PUSD's distance learning offerings. Each of these documents is the result of many hours of hard work, factoring in the latest guidance from state and local healthcare authorities, along with the feedback and suggestions from parents, students, staff, teachers, and the community. As we have stated previously, the information contained within will likely be adjusted as conditions evolve and new directives are issued by government and health officials.
While many questions likely remain, we hope these guides are a helpful starting point to begin the new school year. A profound thank you to all of those who dedicated their time and energy in creating these through their participation in our focus groups, parent forums, and other activities and meetings to reopen our schools.
We look forward to welcoming your students back to school via distance learning on August 13th.
Sincerely,
Nate Nelson
Superintendent
